Tai Ping Hou Kui Green Tea
Tai Ping Hou Kui Green Tea
Tai Ping Hou Kui Green Tea – one of China’s “Top Ten Green Teas.”
If Chinese leaves ever entered a beauty pageant, I’d cast my vote for Tai Ping Hou Kui. Each leaf stretches about 10 cm, paper-thin and willowy, like a statuesque, slender model walking through the mist.
The name itself is a miniature poem:
- “Tai Ping” means peace and harmony;
- “Hou” (monkey) nods to its home on Monkey Ridge and Monkey Pit in Huangshan, Anhui, where troops of monkeys still roam;
- “Kui” is the classical title for “the fairest of them all,” often reserved for the most beautiful woman in old Chinese texts.
Many who have tasted dozens of green teas crown Hou Kui the most fragrant: a lush orchid aroma, mellow yet persistent, lingering long after the cup is empty.
