Jasmine tea, also known as jasmine scented tea, is a type of scented tea. The tea base is green tea, and it is also a type of green tea with a history of more than 1,000 years. The birthplace of jasmine tea in the world is Fuzhou, Fujian. Its tea fragrance and jasmine fragrance are mutually integrated, and it has the reputation of "scenting jasmine with supreme taste, and being listed as the first fragrance in the world". The main production areas are Fujian Province, Sichuan Province and Guangxi Province in China.
Because tea leaves have extremely strong adsorption, and jasmine buds will release a large amount of floral fragrance in a specific environment (usually from 8 to 10 o'clock in the evening from June to August), its floral fragrance can be fully absorbed by tea leaves. When the floral fragrance is released, the jasmine dry flowers are sieved out, and the second batch of flower buds are added to the tea leaves, waiting for the tea leaves to naturally absorb the floral fragrance. Repeat this process, at least three times, and up to nine times. Until the jasmine dry flowers are sieved out. This is why most jasmine teas are fragrant but not flowers.
Sichuan jasmine tea often contains a small amount of dried jasmine flowers. These dried flowers are not left over during the processing, but are deliberately added after the tea is scented into the finished product. The purpose is only one: to increase the ornamental value of the tea.
Fuzhou and Guangxi jasmine tea do not contain dried jasmine flowers.
