Enshi Yulu Green Tea, a specialty of Enshi City, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province, is a national geographical indication product of China.
Enshi Yulu Green Tea is a traditional Chinese steamed green tea and the only preserved steamed needle-shaped green tea in China. It is made from fresh leaves with deep green color, typically one bud and one or two leaves, processed using steam fixation.
Since the green tea seeds and tea-making methods were introduced to Japan from China during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907), Japan has continued to primarily use the steaming method to produce green tea. The Gyokuro tea-making method in Japan is similar to that of Enshi Yulu, with each having its unique characteristics.
The characteristics of Enshi Yulu Green Tea include a rich fruity flavor, a mellow taste, and a long aftertaste. The leaves can be described as dark green, slender, medium-sized, and semi-open. The tea soup of Enshi Yulu is particularly bright: emerald green, shiny, and clear. Since 2008, this variety has been certified organic. Traditionally, this tea is entirely handcrafted and steamed in bamboo baskets under the sun on hot days. It is unique. This tea grows at an altitude of 1200 meters in the Enshi region of Hubei.

Brewing Method:
For brewing high-quality and delicate Enshi Yulu tea, it is recommended to use the top casting method (water before tea).
Choose a 200-250 ml glass cup and pour in hot water at around 80℃-90℃.
Place 3-5 grams of tea. After the dry tea absorbs water and expands, gently rotate the cup to evenly distribute the tea soup. It will be ready to drink after 30 seconds.
The advantage of the top casting method is that it prevents the tea from being scalded by excessively high water temperatures.
